Learning the Latvian Negation displayed below is vital to the language. Latvian negation is the process that turns an affirmative statement (I am happy) into its opposite denial (I am not happy).
In Latvian, negation can be made simply by adding a prefix "ne" in front of the main verb. In Latvian normally no double negative is used.
Es nevaru to izdarīt (I can't do this).
Man tas nepatīk (I don't like it).
You can form negative also by adding a particle “nav” (meaning “don’t have).
Man nav laika. (I don’t have time).
Man nav naudas (I don’t have money).
