Slovak adverbs are part of speech. Generally they're words that modify any part of language other than a noun. Adverbs can modify verbs, adjectives (including numbers), clauses, sentences and other adverbs.

Grammar Tips:

While in English adverbs are usually formed by adding (-ly) to adjectives. In Slovak many adverbs are formed from adjectives, simply by changing the suffix from long to short ending in –e, -o or -y. Examples:

Dobrý (M), dobrá (F), dobré (N) (good) becomes dobre (good, well)

Dlhý (M), dlhá (F), dlhé (N) becomes dlho (long)

Pomalý (M), pomalá (F), pomalé (N) – slow becomes pomaly (slowly) – long suffix changes to short.
